Hope Lighthouse Pins

The Hope Light lighthouse pins, a Beacon of Light & Hope were commissioned by Rudy Bess in 2014, and made by Pins By Frank to replicate the lighthouse in Metropolis, Illinois.                  The Hope lighthouse stands 30 feet tall and consists of a white conical shaped, reinforced steel tower beneath a teal day mark band and black lantern room with a white-light  flashing beacon.

On November 5th, 2014 the lighthouse was dedicated to the fight against all cancers.  Shortly thereafter, the lighthouse was approved by the Illinois Department of Tourism to be an official state attraction due to its unique symbolic characteristics.   Today it continues to be a landmark of great interest to travelers visiting Metropolis, Illinois.  To learn more about the lighthouse: https://www.enjoyillinois.com/explore/listing/metropolis-lighthouse-hope-light and http://www.hopelightproject.com/metropolis-hope-light.html

As with most lighthouses, the Hope Light lighthouse serves to Light the way as a Beacon of “Hope” for inspiration and encouragement.

Education facilities  have purchased the Hope Lighthouse pins for student Graduations to give students a message of HOPE.

Pins By Frank is proud to have made these pins which are made in the USA, hand painted and lead free.  The message they send is one that is important and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share it.

The Starfish Story – Making A difference – A New Award

Frank and Marie Bouchard started “Pins by Frank,” an online lapel pin company, in 2000 with a Collection of Hospitality Pins.  About 8 years ago Marie was in a training class that talked about the Starfish Story and the importance of how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference. Marie loved the story and decided to make a Starfish pin to promote the story to other.

Starfish Award

Frank and Marie made a starfish pin to add to our Seaside Collection along with the Starfish Story and we are so glad we did!  It has been very popular with educators, churches and companies that also want their employees to understand how they too can make a difference!

A Recognition Award

Very recently Marie became aware of the “Profits Run Starfish Award”, created by Bill  Poulos in 2019, to honor individuals doing extraordinary tasks to help others do better in life. The first award went to Rachel O’Neill for her work with Dresses for Africa. You can read more about Rachel and other honorable mentions on the Profits Run Starfish Award webpage.

Poulos is an experienced trader, financial educator, published author, and retired automotive executive and has a strong passion for philanthropy.  Poulos shares that the secret to life is “helping as many people as possible. No matter how big or small the effort is, people can make a difference. The Profits Run Starfish Award is aimed at recognizing individuals who constantly strive to make a difference in the world.”  Poulos presents the Profits Run Starfish Award to individuals who encompass that spirit and work hard to make a difference in this world, even if that difference is only just for one person.

Marie recognizes that many clients of Pins By Frank may have great candidates that would be deserving of this recognition and wanted to create awareness with this blog.  If you’d like to submit a candidate please contact [email protected].
