Fairleigh Dickinson Vancouver Campus Canada ordered a custom pin for their students in their Hospitality programs. Their logo was put into one of our large pineapple pins with a delightful result. The testimonial for this order is testament to their satisfaction.
This custom made Koala Bear pin was made for a fundraiser held by Living Ventures, UK. The pin has a gold finish and a military clutch back.
Custom Made Lapel Pins for Rhode Island Commerce Corporation
In September of 2017, Frank & I completed a custom made lapel pin for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation. We worked with Nail Communications of Providence who designed the pin and the card that it was affixed to. We also worked together to make sure every detail was perfect.
The custom made lapel pin is a banner with the words Rhode Island inside it. The paint was baked enamel and two different color schemes were selected. The first was a deep blue with light blue accents on a matte gold finish, the second was red, with light blue accents and a matte gold finish.
The business size card, printed in matching colors “deputized Rhode Island Champions” to tell others about the assets of our great state!
The purpose of the custom pin was to promote Little Rhody. Laura Salamano, of RI commerce Corporation “sees this as a way to get Rhode Islanders involved in promoting the state by inviting them to be our spokespeople. As we look to attract visitors, we wanted to include those who can speak most authentically and passionately about our state.”
In September, over a three day period, the commerce team worked with TF Greene Airport officials and FII Marketing to distribute the pins and cards to passengers leaving Rhode Island so they might tell others about our amazing little state.
In the first quarter of 2017 we had the opportunity to make a custom made Martell Swift Bird lapel pin working with Legacy Marketing, Chicago. It is finished in shiny gold and has beautiful definition. We also made custom Martell Swift bird cufflinks to compliment the pin.
In May of 2017 Pins by Frank was commissioned to make a custom made lapel pin for Crate & Barrel, CB2. The pins were designed by Vol. 4, a division of Roc Nation and commissioned by Lauren Sims Creative, of California, who worked with us on all of the details of the project. We had worked with Lauren on other projects and it was a pleasure to do so again.
The pin is called “Hand to Lips.” The pin is 1 ¼” tall and ½” wide at its widest point. The painting on the pin is hand done in black and the finish gold. It is indeed a stunning pin. The back has a military / butterfly clutch.
We were told that its launch was a great success and were very pleased to know that it was well received.

Starfish pins were inspired by a story I read, published by “Loren Eiseley” in 1969 in the “Unexpected Universe”. The “Starfish Story,” also know as the “Star Thrower” is part of a 16-page essay of the same name by Loren Eiseley (1907–1977). The Star Thrower is also the title of a 1978 anthology of Eiseley’s works (including the essay), which he completed shortly before his death. The story is about how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference!!! When making our lighthouse pins, we realized that the history of the Lighthouse was of importance. Wikipedia has a detailed description of its history, a portion of which reads “Before the development of clearly defined ports, mariners were guided by fires built on hilltops. Since raising the fire would improve the visibility, placing the fire on a platform became a practice that led to the development of the lighthouse. Our Ribbon Pins are available in all colors. Ribbon Pins are also commonly referred to as awareness pins. Our awareness pins are 1 ¼” tall x ½” wide. In-stock colors are White, Pink, Red, and Purple and White & Burgundy for the Children’s Awareness Pins. All pins can be personalized on request. For special colors, minimums may be required.
Using these pins to create and celebrate awareness can be attributed to Penelope Laingen, a military wife who tied a yellow ribbon around an oak tree in her yard when her husband was being held hostage in Iran. From that time on, a Yellow Ribbon became the symbol of hope and awareness. Ribbons and the ribbon pin were used to convey the thoughts and prayers that were going out for our troops stationed in faraway places.
Rhode Island & Providence pins represent the smallest state in the United States of America, and it’s capital city of Providence. Rhode Island is only 48 miles long and has 384 miles of shoreline. This East coast state, often called the Ocean State, on the Atlantic Ocean offers many miles of beautiful coastline. Pineapple pins, made by Pins By Frank, are proudly made in the U.S.A. with a blend of metals. They are offered in three sizes; small, medium and large and all have a military clutch, also referred to as a butterfly clutch.
Our small pineapple pin is ¾” tall, curved, and is available in gold, silver and two copper finishes. Medium and large pineapple pins are available with hand painted green tops, Italian colors of red, green & White or glitter tops which are multicolored. Our pineapple pins can also be customized in your choice of painted tops. There is a minimum required for custom colors. The medium and large pins are flat, beautifully detailed and can be customized with business or University initials, logos and colors.
